Face the Sea – Part 2 @ Maar Lake
Long long ago, when the Hainan(海南) Island didn’t departed from the Leizhou(雷州) Peninsula, there are plenties of volcanoes alive in this land. The volcanoes burst frequently and changed this land magically. The volcanoes created hills, mountain up from the flatland, also moved away them without any warning. The earth plate movement which causes the desperation between Hainan Island and Leizhou Peninsula is the reason why there were so many volcanoes. And nowadays, the plate movement almost stop and most volcanoes die and disappeared. But those geology miracles they made are still telling the stories.
The place we are heading to is one of the famous geology miracles that the ancient volcanoes made. The Huguangyan Park lies in the south of Zhanjiang. It looks like a crown which keep a gain sapphire. And the name of this sapphire is Maar Lake.
PS: This statue of fountain tells a traditional Chinese story, the carps jump the dragon gate. The one that jumps over the gate would turn into a dragon. And after we took this journey we found out that there is also a story about a giant “dragon carp” living in Maar lake. Some pictures about it were shown in the museum to make this legend more real.
This nature park is so large that we have to get some vehicles to make this journey more easy and comfortable. We rented a bike and also discover there is another more funny choice, getting on the tourism “train” instead.
Maar Lake which lie inside the Huguangyan Park is a special volcanic lake formed in plain area. Then water in the lake was filled after years of accumulation. The Maar Lake consist of two lakes. The one in the east is small and the other in the west is larger. The lake covers an area of 2.3 square kilometers with the deepest water of 22 meters.
The Maar lake is very miracle. First, water in the lake is nearly on the same level with only 0.5 meter difference. Water in the lake is neither dry nor overflowed at any time. Second, water in the lake has strong purification functions and the water is as clear as a mirror. As a result, there is no floating material, such as tree leaves and other stuffs in the lake. Third, no snakes and no frogs in the lake while lots of fish live in the water. Fourth, water in the lake is very helpful for your skin and good for your health. ……
We go around the Maar Lake for hunting every piece of beauty. The Century Wall, the stately temple, the trees, the bushes, the flowers the grass and animals living here make this place as a dream place.
Err… I have no idea about those two radar stations. Maybe the military penalty area.
As it said that this giant lake was created by the volcanoes, there are many proofs lie in this area silently for us to discover.
Reading these rocks and cliffs can help us to understand what had happened thousands of years ago. And the great power of the nature and earth. Further more, there is a museum about the volcano and earthquake inside the park, helping people to understand the acknowledgment more well.
Finally, let’s see the most nature and ancient feeling WC… In fact, nothing difference inside.
