Linux for our life

As a Linux user for several years, Linux give me another view of the world and lots of Linux lovers share lots of fun with me. Wanna to give thans to Linux, I bought a few stuff from a B2C web site.
The first one is a Tee with Ubuntu Logo:

It’s so awesome. Ubuntu is my using Linux dist.. And I love its logo because it show love and peace to us, Reminding us that we are connected , no matter where we are and whom we are.

The other Tee I bought is a GNOME Tee:

I love this “big paw” very much. GNOME is my favorite Linux Desktop environment. It’s so elegant and effective. There is no more luxuriant decorative odds in Gnome. That make it very friendly to me.

Beside those two Tees above, I also got a mouse pad in Ubuntu theme with half price~~

As a big fan of South Park, I can’t miss any new episode of it. And this great comedy animation has been broadcasted years and years and the 200th episode finally comes. In 200th and 201th episode, the most heard voice is “bi-~”. “Bi” is used to cover those sensitive words, image, and other stuffs.

South Park can’t be seen on TV in China, a country that has the most great number of censored words. But thanks to the Internet, there are many many South Park fans in China. For example, I started to watch South Park when I was in the campus 4 years ago. And then I discovered that there are so many guys like me on the web in China.

Sometimes I think about why South Park so popular in China. It’s funny that this animation didn’t release Chinese version in mainland of China, and also it contains a lot of American jokes that we hardly to get it. But South Park is totally a big hit. The reason I love it is because that I admire the freedom of discuss and express people’s own feelings. We admire the American people’s liberty of speech. The author of South Park can make fun of whoever they want, including the President of USA. But if we say something about our “great” Party in our opinion and stand in a wrong point, maybe someone would call you to drink…. South Park is very brave to express the author’s, the ordinary people’s voices, thinkings in public, so there are many censored things couldn’t be told about and seen directly. Then the “bi” voice comes out very frequently. In fact, we got it most of the time… That is the most funny thing and we all know that. And at this point, we Chinese guys love this “bit” sound very much because it just like the situation we are facing all the time. Our great China Lan is full of sensitive culture. “The Big Brother is watching you” All the sensitive information would be filtered or the sensitive word would be replace by “CENSORED”.

Chinese web is a black joke itself. And Chinese netizens love telling black jokes. So we love South Park~

The 5th GDUT Food Festival

Be noticed that this Saturday is the 5th Food Festival of GDUT, I decided to be pretend as a student again. Yep, this festival is a traditional day which begin from the first year we come to this new campus district in such isolated island. So as the first “troop” here, I won’t miss such remarkable and … tasty~ festival
(related to the Asian Game? God knows….)
I have to admire my little GDUT fellows, this festival is much more bigger and more developed than the ones in our times. And nowadays, not only the chefs from those canteens is the main actors of the show, but also our students. The talent students can show their cooking skills and gain little benefit too. Most of those stalls were run by the students, they got many different and funny cool things. Some take out their traditional hometown special product, and someone fetched new funny fashion candy or drink. I really want to gain two more arms so that I can get and taste more delicious things~~

As the old opponents to the student army, the “canteen force” is more professional and strong. All the Canteen sent their “elite” members and representative works to compete to win this game.

We wouldn’t be so gentle that just taste these two things of course. But we don’t really have enough hands to handle our camera in such crowed pedestrian flow~~~~~

If you are confident of your stomach and didn’t eat the breakfast, then you could come to joint the Big Eater competition. As in GDUT, This Big Eater competition has another special to the transitional single challenge, the couple challenge! In this mode, the competitor must find his girl assistant to play together, the boy can’t take the bread but the girl. And to be a nice gentleman in front of his lovely girl, you know that, no one would eat like a monster. Then, this game turned into a warm and funny game for the lovers

A Perfect Trysting Place at GDUT

It’s a great pity for those students left GDUT before the new library completed totally. Though we made many bad comments when that building’s design and equipments when it just finished construction. After two years we felt, GDUT library really changed a lot. That makes me so “envy” at the current students~

All I can say is you are so lucky and fortunate to have such a place to study. The boys of GDUT are not nerds at all, so there are many trysting places in the campus, including this library. And this place is the main target that I would show you.

Maybe you will say library is a public place and leave no private space for the lovers. Don’t forget the balcony on the top of this building, that’s the place that not many people know about. The balcony is an open place hasn’t used with purpose. But some genius make this place so amazing and beautiful.

The gate walls with different colors stand straightly one by one. The ground is covered with gravel. It doesn’t need any more ornaments and decorations. The colors have make this picture perfect.

From here, It seems that the whole campus is just under our feet. And all the colors of GDUT buildings can be found here too. Little fellows, you have the good days and perfect environment right here today. Just enjoy the fantasy campus life~

Google by Yourself! Stretch-Hand Party

I’d like to say “Google is an attitude”. (Of course, if you are used with Yahoo or Baidu, you can change the subject word.) In my opinion, the skill of searching information you want freely on line is one of the most important and most-have skills in the modern cyber world. And Google the information by yourself first is a kind of polite to others who wanna help you. No matter how much information you can get by your hands, that would show that you have tried it out and you don’t mean to disturb your friends really but have no choice.

Lu Xun advocates the Fetch-and-Take principle, said that we should learn the good things from other countries and use them to help our selves. But Fetch-and-Take is not Ask-and-take. Nowadays, more and more people are keen on being a Ask-and-take. They consider that the web is only a resource base to them, all they have to do is just stretch their hand and someone will hand over what they want. And the worse is that more and more children and teenage are joining the “Stretch Hand Party”. For example, in a English learning chat group, someone like to interrupt to ask what’s the meaning of one simple word that could find out in a on-line dictionary very simple. Or some newbie that even doesn’t know how to speak “Ubuntu” came to ask me some very simple Linux problems that posted on the top of many popular Linux forums.

Let me google that for you is a funny site that help people to get rid of those “Stretch Hand Party” members. It help me to solve some bore-some problems and the more important, help more and more those guys learn how to make it by their hands.

Asian Sports Village Under Construction

The Asian Sports Village is one of the most important projects of Asian Games construction. As the countdown in my blog’s sidebar shows, there are only about 360 days left for the opening of 16th Asian Games. And we must have several months for preparing and testing the “hardware” situation and also let the athletes get acquainted with this brand new town. Then there would be only half years left for this construction project. So how does the Asian Sports Village project process? Can it been finished well before the time comes up? That would be the problem we are concerned right now.

Today is a G’day. Tough it’s still quite chilly, but the sunshine is very nice~ I have a chance to go to Asian Sports Village for some reason about my work. So I also took a glance in passing.

OK, because I have my work to do, I have no time to wander around very parts of this large building town. So it’s just a small horn of a hug iceberg. How majestic The Asian Sports Village will be is still make me so curious.

The Lonely Day in GDUT

As a former student of GDUT, I am proud of your bravery, optimism and humor. GDUTers took too many challenges and conquer all obstacle. We received many many achievement and honor. We are the best men in the world.

Maybe the most of you are titled as GDUT single guys. But that’s not your fault, it is just a test of your life time. Your great future is waiting for you, and also your girl will be there.

So don’t be sad when people joking about the singles day, just show your smile and take it easy. You know, there are thousands of brothers here, they are sharing your smile and happiness. We can hold together and make it through.

Maybe at one day, when you and your “chosen one” talking about the college time, she would think that the God is so kind to keep you in GDUT that you didn’t been stolen by the others.

National-Wide Traffic Failure Day

Tomorrow is the 60th National day founding of PRC. That means a holiday more than a week for most people and many happy things would happen, but except one terrible nightmare… How to go home…

Canton, the place where I live now, is one of the most famous hell at the times like this. Every times when some National wide holiday comes, the uncountable migrant workers from country-wide places would form a great flow that you can’t imagine.

Actually, I am not going back to my hometown today, because the traffic would kill me totally. But I have to go for a dinner with my elder sister and brother tonight. So I encountered this horrible and somehow spectacular sight.

This is the picture I took at the Metro station at the Sport Center West station.

PS: It was shot when I can released my hands to handle my phone. That means this is not the most crowed part!!!

Eating Crabs at Cheng Long Hang (成隆行)

Yesterday is absolutely a dark day for our Chinese Internet users. The famous softwares so like FG and tor met their first Waterloo battle in front of the updated GFW.
But how ever, the more closely the 60th National day coming, the more “harmonious” the web world in China would be. So to vent the emotions about GFW, I decided to do something
Besides that unhappy things, the crabs in Cheng Long Hang are very very delicious really. It said that this is the subbranch of the famous crab eating restaurant in Shanghai.
PS: Crabs is pronounced like “harmony” in Chinese…

“District 9″ – Self-Portrait of Human

Frankly speaking, before I watched “District 9″, I thought I was going to see another science fiction fast food movie. But I am wrong, after watching it, I feel confused and repressed. The movie use a very real story telling mode to make you believe all of it is real and true just as it happen on Earth. And Just a story about the conflict between the human and aliens, and the tragedy happen on Wikus, the leading role.
Maybe you would think that the aliens are the core of this movie. But, I don’t think so. Greedy, selfish, hardhearted, dishonest… all the adj. of that kinds could be found on our human in this movie. Even Wikus, the leading role. At the beginning, he is also one of the people with those adj. mentioned above. The humanity to the alien is so weak in front of the greed of human. In order to protect their own benefit and fetch the power from the aliens, the human become the worst specie in the world.
At the end of the story, Wikus finally knows the real faces of the people for whom he work. And he fight with his last strength to help his alien friends back to the alien mothership.
The movie didn’t tell how is Wikus after that. Maybe he believe that the alien would keep the words:”I will come back, I promise.”. So he fight for them. But obviously this isn’t the reason he fight with his life. He knows something, knowing what he should do, whom he should help and whom he should fight again. All because he is human in his heart.

He is turning into alien shape step by step. But his is more and more human with no doubt. The last scene is a alien who is make a rose with some iron sheets from the trash. We all know that it’s Wikus, who has changed int to a alien completely cries his best to tell his wife that he still loves her.
